Project VLTAVA: Famed & Flowing
In 2025, both the Czech and international public commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first performance of the symphonic poem Vltava by Bedřich Smetana. On this occasion, the National Heritage Institute presents the project VLTAVA: Famed & Flowing, aimed at highlighting the significance of the Vltava River as a national symbol and a cultural route, in all its essential natural, cultural, social, and economic contexts.

Main themes of the season
Every year, at the workplaces of the National Heritage Institute as well as at castles, chateaux and other monuments owned by the state, we commemorate important anniversaries of historical events and personalities or draw attention to topics we consider important.
In addition to the key themes of the year, which you can find at the bottom of this page, the National Heritage Institute is involved in a number of domestic and international events related to the care of monuments and cultural heritage. Many of these events are initiated by the NHI itself and are organised in cooperation with other institutions, such as the Association of Castle and Chateau Owners, the Association of Historic Settlements of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, etc.
