National Heritage Institute Awards Patrimonium pro futuro

The Patrimonium pro futuro Awards, which the National Heritage Institute announces as a contributory organisation of the Ministry of Culture in charge of preserving and developing the values of the heritage fund in the Czech Republic, evaluates positive and successful achievements in the field of heritage conservation completed in the previous year. They have been held from 2014 and in the past eleven years a total of 97 awards have been presented.

For each region, experts from the National Heritage Institute, who guarantee monument care in each region, can select representatives to compete for awards in several categories.

The national evaluation takes place in several stages. The members of the expert committee first prepare expert opinions on the nominations, which are presented to one another. Then, at a joint meeting, they propose the winners based on a vote and submit the proposals to the Director General of the National Heritage Institute who awards the prizes. The Director General may also award a special prize or highlight a prominent personality for their contribution to heritage conservation.

In addition to the prize and diploma, the winners will also receive a year's subscription to the Czech Journal of Historical Heritage Preservation and a one-off annual family ticket to the places managed by the National Heritage Institute.

For the first time in 2015, the public could also participate in the evaluation. By means of an online vote on the website of the National Heritage Institute, the participants choose the one that impressed them the most from the nominations. At the award ceremony, the public receives the Monuments Gratitude Award ("Památky děkují").

The winners of the Patrimonium pro futuro award 2024, including the winner of the Monuments Gratitude Award, were announced on November 15, 2024 at a gala evening at the National Theatre New Stage in Prague.
